Welcome to the Hoshi no Mai website!

I am Mai Kaibe, an astrologer, writer, and teacher based in Japan. I began studying Western astrology in 2014, and by 2015 I had set out independently, founding Hoshi no Mai. This year marks the 10th anniversary of my work.

Hoshi no Mai is a Japanese phrase meaning “the dance of the stars.” It also carries a personal connection, as my name, Mai, means “dance.” Western astrology interprets the spiralling movements of the planets, so the name reflects both my own identity and the cosmic rhythm that inspires my work.

Why an English website?

For many years, my writing and teaching have been centred in Japan. Yet I have always felt that the wisdom of the stars is something universal—something that can inspire and guide people everywhere. Creating an English website has long been a dream of mine, and I am truly delighted that it is finally becoming reality. Through this site, I hope to connect with readers across the world who are curious about astrology and who, like me, seek a deeper understanding of themselves and their path in life.

The gift of astrology

Astrology is not only about prediction; it is about insight. It reveals the cycles of time and the spiral of cosmic energy in which we all live. When I first encountered astrology, I discovered that my own life was woven into a much greater pattern—one that gave meaning, direction, and hope. Since then, astrology has been my constant companion, helping me to guide others in their own journeys of self-discovery.
